The BFG

The BFG - 117min - PG

Roald Dahl is a master storyteller.  It is challenging to put some of this kid shows on screen without changing something or losing sight of the spirit of the story. I have seen a few Dr. Seuss books ruined by the big screen.  I am looking at you Cat in the Hat. This one transitioned well. I think it helps when you have people who love and understand the story working to make it a film worthy of the story. Read my full review here.

The Legend of Tarzan

The Legend of Tarzan  - 110 min - PG13

This is a reintroduction of this classic tale to the modern age. Does it hold up to the dramatic change in tone and a more modern sensibility? For the most part, it does. Some of the less savory views of the original material have been brought up to date.

Margo Robbie is a force to be reconded with, Jane is no wilting flower in this retelling.  Read my review here on Balckflix
